Amid this paradigm shift at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the HospitalityVIEW working group was formed to provide an online platform for hotel brand, management, technology, and operations experts to consider the current and future state of the hospitality and travel industries.

Chip Conley keynoted the summer 2021 meeting of the HospitalityVIEW working group with reflections on his time as founder of Joie de Vivre hotels, as an early strategic advisor to the Airbnb founders, and now as creator of Modern Elder Academy, a network of new higher education, retirement, and resort industry communities.

The HospitalityVIEW working group recently met for its first quarterly meeting of 2021. The group reflected on the tumultuous year the industry has had since the onset of the pandemic, and looked ahead to better understand where innovation and industry transformation are leading.

The meeting was keynoted by Google Industry Travel Lead, Finnbar Cornwall, who drew on proprietary data and insights to set the frame for a discussion that included an analysis of trends in the hotel industry, the current dynamic between brands and the OTAs, and emerging business models that travel providers are adopting.
